PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: To design and develop Digital Signal Processing algorithms on 32-bit processors for Radio Frequency proximity sensing. Responsibilities include designing signal processing algorithms, implementing and testing algorithms in simulation software and firmware, and generating comprehensive technical documentation and reports.
Responsibilities
Analyse fuze system requirements and architectural design of electronic sub-systems
Design and implement digital signal processing algorithms (filtering, FFT, modulation, demodulation, estimation, detection)
Develop real-time DSP solutions for embedded and high-performance platforms
Optimize algorithms for speed, memory, and power consumption
Create simulation models of DSP algorithms in C/C++, Python, or MATLAB
Implement algorithms/solutions on special purpose DSP hardware and embedded microcontrollers
Collaborate with hardware engineers on ADC/DAC selection and signal chain design
Support board debugging and hardware validation
Analyse signal integrity, noise, and system-level performance
Create and configure relevant project documents, software and reports
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including RF antenna, hardware, firmware, and systems engineering
Adhere to coding standards where applicable
Participate in technical reviews and project meetings
Qualify solutions to required MIL-standards
Design and develop appropriate tests in line with subsystem and system verification and qualification
Work with production engineering and instrumentation to develop appropriate hardware/software test regimes for large-scale production
Work in/with multi-disciplinary teams
Research relevant technologies by keeping abreast of developments in signal processing, electronics, fuze, radar and EW domains
Apply appropriate technologies, including machine learning and AI, to keep products relevant
Qualifications Qualification:
BSc/BEng in Electrical Engineering with undergraduate or postgraduate courses/majors in:
Radio signals and systems
Electronics
Software
Experience:
5 years in:
Electronic warfare, RADAR systems and implementation of digital signal processing algorithms
Embedded hardware architecture and peripheral interfacing
Statistical analysis of data
Embedded programming (C)
Modelling and simulation of DSP algorithms using MATLAB or Python
Technical Capabilities
RF signal processing
FFT, DFT, spectral analysis
Sampling theory and quantization
Noise analysis and SNR optimization
Proficiency in MATLAB and/or Python
DSP libraries, DSP processors, and microcontrollers (ARM Cortex-M/A)
