RELEVANT EXPERIENCE: 

  • Previous sales, technical sales, manufacturing, production, or steel industry experience would be advantageous. 
  • Exposure to steel processing, service centres, manufacturing, roofing, profiling, roll forming, or related industries would be advantageous.  
  • Experience dealing with industrial or manufacturing customers beneficial.  
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills essential.  
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION: 

  • Grade 12 Certificate - Matric

  • Understand and relate to customer production and operational requirements with professionalism and urgency.  
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with customers, production teams, and commercial stakeholders.  
  • Listen attentively to customer requirements, operational challenges, and internal feedback to ensure effective solutions.  
  • Analyse production capacity, operational constraints, and customer requirements to identify opportunities and solve problems efficiently.  
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail when managing specifications, production instructions, scheduling, and customer expectations.  
  • Demonstrate strong commercial awareness when negotiating pricing, managing margins, and identifying growth opportunities.  
  • Adapt quickly to changing production schedules, customer demands, and operational priorities within a fast-paced environment.  
  • Work collaboratively with sales, production, logistics, and management teams to maximise processing throughput and customer satisfaction.  
  • Make sound business decisions aligned with operational capabilities, customer service standards, and long-term business growth.  
  • Identify operational, commercial, and customer service risks proactively and implement practical solutions to minimize disruptions. 
     

PRIMARY FUNCTION OF THE POSITION: 

  • Promote and sell BSI's full range of processing and value-added capabilities.  
  • Increase production throughput and machine utilisation across all processing lines.  
  • Source customer-owned material for processing at BSI facilities.  
  • Build relationships with manufacturers, fabricators, contractors, roll formers, service centres, and end users who require outsourced steel processing.  
  •  Work closely with commercial and production teams to identify underutilised capacity and prioritise opportunities.  
  • Become technically proficient in all BSI processing lines and capabilities.  
  • Manage and grow an existing portfolio of processing customers.  
  • Act as the primary communication point between customers and production teams regarding:  

* Production scheduling  

* Delays and downtime  

* Quality concerns  

* Lead times  

* Pricing adjustments  

* Delivery coordination  

  • Work alongside BSI's traditional steel sales teams to identify strategic opportunities where processing customers could also become steel supply customers.  
  • Assist in positioning BSI as a superior alternative to independent processing service centres in the South African market.  
  • Maintain strong customer service standards and ensure long-term customer retention. 

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: 

  • Growth in processing tonnage and overall utilisation of BSI production lines.  
  • Acquisition of new processing customers and expansion into new markets or industries.  
  • Maintenance and growth of existing customer accounts, service levels and customer satisfaction.  
  • Effective coordination with production, logistics and commercial teams to ensure smooth execution and communication.  
  • Achievement of revenue, margin and pricing objectives within the processing division.  
  • Identification and conversion of opportunities to grow both processing volumes and broader steel supply business.
