Position: Community Project Coordinator Type: Contract– Indefinite term Location: Free State (Soutpan, Dealesville, Bloemfontein, or surrounding areas) Role
DG Murray Trust is recruiting a Community Project Coordinator to support the work of the Letsatsi Solar Park Trust in the Free State communities of Soutpan, Dealesville, Bloemfontein and surrounding areas. The Letsatsi Solar Park Trust supports long-term community development, with a focus on improving outcomes for children, young people, families and communities. DGMT supports the Trust through its Place-Based Synergies portfolio and Collaboratives Practice Team.The Community Project Coordinator will serve as the on-the-ground presence for the collaborative work. The role is responsible for building and maintaining relationships, supporting community-based coordination, strengthening collaboration between stakeholders, and ensuring that the Trust’s work remains informed by local realities.The CPC will help make collaboration work by connecting people, supporting shared priorities, tracking commitments, surfacing local intelligence, and strengthening coordination across community members, NGOs, schools, implementing partners, government and other stakeholders. Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree or diploma in social sciences, community development, development studies, public management, education, social work, or a related field. Equivalent experience in community-based coordination or development work may also be considered. Experience working with communities, local organisations, schools, government stakeholders or implementing partners.Experience facilitating meetings, dialogues, forums or community engagements. Strong coordination and organisational experience. Experience documenting discussions, decisions, commitments and learning. Ability to work with basic data, local evidence and community insights to support shared decision-making.Familiarity with collective impact, systems change, asset-based community development, collaborative governance or place-based development would be an advantage. Familiarity with the Free State community context, especially Soutpan, Dealesville and Bloemfontein, would be an advantage. Desired qualities
Relational, grounded and trusted by communities. Professional and able to work well with institutions and formal stakeholders. A strong communicator who can engage clearly and respectfully across different audiences. Organised, reliable and able to follow through on commitments. Inclusive and committed to ensuring that community voices shape local priorities. Curious, reflective and willing to keep learning. Proficiency in Sesotho. Must be based in or near Soutpan, Dealesville, Bloemfontein or surrounding areas. Valid driver’s licence and own vehicle. Willingness to travel locally within the Free State. Responsibilities
Support and facilitate community forums, working groups and stakeholder engagements that bring local actors together around shared priorities, helping meetings lead to clear decisions, agreed actions and follow-through. Build and maintain stakeholder relationships with community members, local leaders, schools, NGOs, implementing partners, government stakeholders and other relevant actors.Track shared outcomes and surfacing local intelligence, helping stakeholders build a shared understanding of community needs, priorities and progress, bringing local data, observations and community insights into collaborative conversations and feeding insights back to the PBS team and Trust. Support implementing partners in understanding the local context, connecting to relevant stakeholders, and participating meaningfully in collaborative structures and forums.Keep collaborative operations running by coordinating the practical and administrative backbone of collaborative work, including scheduling, logistics, communications, action tracking, stakeholder lists, summaries and reports. Manage small-scale community support requests, handling emergency relief or community support requests within Trust guidelines, escalating matters where needed.How to apply
