Description
Cementation Africa invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of General Engineering Supervisor to be placed in Tharisa Mine. The successful candidate will report to the Site Engineer/Contracts Engineer. The company will provide remuneration and benefits relevant and appropriate to the position. Preference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South African (HDSA) candidates. Applications only open to South African Citizens / Permanent Residents.
Responsibilities
Effective planning, construction and maintenance of plant and infrastructure
Conduct equipment failure analysis
Ensure daily supply of materials to subordinate teams
Monitor equipment availability, utilisation and performance
Maintain ventilation and pumping
Ensure sub‑contractor competency&Oversee contractors
Ensure legal, safety and environmental procedure compliance
Manage budget control and forecasting
Conduct risk analyses
Maintain asset register
Ensure availability of drawings/technical manuals and the interpretation thereof
Adhere to maintenance schedules
Ensure environmental management is in place
Adhere to technical specifications and standards
Ensure quality risks are identified and put in place quality plans to mitigate these risks
Ensure subordinates are performance managed and talent is identified and developed
Minimum Qualifications and Skills
Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent
Section 26D or Section 13 Trade Certificate - MIETTB (Mining Industry Engineering Trades Training Board) Trade Certificate through a registered body
Contract of Apprenticeship signed off by employer and Department of Manpower
Proof of formal Supervisory training in Planning, Leading, Organising and Control
Mine based technical certifications (e.g. Basic Hydraulics and Basic Rigging
Onsetter Certificate [Preferred]
MS Office Proficient (Word, Excel&MS Projects– ability to plan&schedule)
Training and understanding of Computerised maintenance system
Valid EB Driver’s License
Valid First Aid Certificate
Sound verbal and written communication skills in English
Work Experience
At least 10 years practical experience in the mining industry implementation of maintenance systems
At least 5 years’ experience in a Foreman/Planning supervisory level capacity
At least 5 years practical experience on TMM (preferred)
Experience in Starting up and running of TMM maintenance systems.
Experience in setting up reporting systems based on agreed KPI
Experience in writing procedures from issue based risk assessments
All appointments will be done in line with our employment equity strategy.
