Supervisor Control Room, Brits

Cementation Africa invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Supervisor Control Room to be placed in Tharisa Mine. The successful candidate will report to the Project Manager.The company will provide remuneration and benefits relevant and appropriate to the position. Preference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South African (HDSA) candidates.Applications only open to South African Citizens / Permanent Residents.

Responsibilities

Effective control and monitoring of control room digitalized systems and functions, that influences underground mining processes and has a direct impact on production targets

Effective implementation, planning and organizing of the control room resources

Effective supervision of the daily activities of the Control Room Operators / Assistants [site specific]

Receive production plan for the shift from the Mine Overseer/Shift Supervisor and input into the digitalisation system, control and monitor plan and report on status

Maintain and operate the control room digitalisation systems / functions to quality standards and elevate / report on system issues timeously

Arrange and make timeous call outs for breakdowns or repairs, elevate appropriately, no delays due to lack of communication

Coordinate and take machines out of operations in line with maintenance schedules received

Monitor, manage and lead communications to advise on any machine alert / outages and progress in accordance to with the site / project predetermined notification process

Coordinate and keep track of underground machinery, equipment and movement of people on the system

Monitor availability, utilisation and performance of equipment on the system and record standing hours and outage times accurately

Communicate with shift supervisors and on-shift maintenance personnel on real-time mine management and inform when production targets are at risk

Work collaboratively with production management to setup incoming shift on the system and provide the production team with changes to the shift plan

Consult with production management on changes to configurations of the relevant real-time systems on variations between actual and plan prior to implementation

Extract system reports, verify information against the plan, elevate non-conformance

Remotely monitor fix plant performance throughout the shift and report thereon at end of shift

Effective risk identification and mitigation within the respective legislative frameworks, quality standards, policies and procedures, elevate and report accordingly

Responsible for system data integrity and accuracy

Effective self and team management in alignment with company values and leadership initiatives

Qualifications

Grade 12 or equivalent

Blasting Certificate / Trade Certificate

Shift Supervisor Certificate / Foreman's Certificate

Proficient in using and navigating in SCADA Mining Software systems. [Advantageous]

Exposure to digital production control systems [preferred]

Good English written and verbal communication skills, with ability to communicate clearly over radio systems

Assertive with ability to provide direction and engage at all levels

Planning and organizing skills

Systems and process oriented

Deciding and initiating action within agreed parameters in a pressurised environment

Proactive with ability to plan ahead

Ability to adapt to changing technologies

Ability to supervise a team

Experience

Minimum 3 years of practical ventilation and occupational hygiene experience in an underground mining environment

At least 5 years of experience working as a Shift Supervisor / Engineering Foreman

Minimum 3 years of working experience in a control room

Experience with mining production control systems [preferred]

Sound knowledge of the mining cycle

Understanding of trackless mining and machinery, conveyor belt and shaft systems [Mine specific requirement]

Knowledge of mechanised mining systems.

Knowledge of SCADA software [Mine specific]
