Junior Interior Designer/Draughtsman, Cape Town

Our client is looking an ambitious and hardworking individual for the following:

• Autocad draughting (furniture layouts, shopfitting details, installations) and 3d modelling in sketchup (installations & components & furniture).
• Liaising shopfitting changes with suppliers & stores, including logistical factors.
• Sourcing and quotations for display props.
• Involved in assisting the Head Office Visual Merchandising team with store planning.

Main accountabilities:

• Drafting new and existing furniture used for the furniture layouts, building up the furniture Cad library.
• Briefing in of shopfits to shopfitter for quotation, overseeing completion & installation of shopfits into store.
• Compiling 3d Sketchup modelling of furniture and homeware installations – conceptualization will be done by HQ team and briefed in.
• The bulk of this ongoing work is done in the running up to the annual national revamp role out, which includes drafting and updating store floorplans with the relevant lists of furniture provided.
• Draughting and updating floor plans indicating their placement into relevant homeware shelving & display tables are prepared & sent out to stores.
• Ensuring office related administration is kept in order, would also include sourcing of quotations and liaising with stores mostly during revamp etc.

Technical Skills:

A 2-year diploma in Interior Design is a required, as well as excellent technical knowledge of design software e.g. AutoCAD and SketchUp. Advantageous to have retail design experience. A minimum of 2-3 years working experience in the interior field is required. He or she must demonstrate a passion for interior décor & design; must be creative & passionate about the brand, eager to use their skills to maximise the brand look and sales potential. Comprehensive Microsoft office skills are required. This role will require a driver's license.
