Logistics Manager, Cape Town

Our client in the FMCG industry is looking for a Logistics Manager to join their experienced team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* To manage the overall logistics and resources, both inbound and outbound, ensuring that rural operations are handled seamlessly.
* Ensure all logistics hub operations are operated in full compliance with all relevant and national legal standards regarding health and safety and the environment.
* Monitor the quality, quantity, cost, and efficiency of the movement and storage of inventory.
* Drive the implementation and improvements in operating processes and systems to optimize warehouse and transport efficiencies.
* Work closely with the rest of the logistics and business to ensure the delivery of integrated supply chain services that meet the business objectives of the company.
* Ensure stock take and regional branch audit processes are adhered to and managed in a proactive manner.
* Managing Transport managing system.
* Adhoc: implement logistics projects.
* Compile/have input in the rural logistics budget and manage costs to ensure lowest cost storage and distribution and optimal utilization of assets.
* Management and control of capital and operating costs and immovable assets within the scope of responsibility.
* Lead the logistics team towards meeting national strategic objectives and targets through regular communication and strategic guidance.
* Maintain a stable Industrial Relations climate through a constructive relationship with employees and all stakeholders.
* Retention of good employees, follow disciplinary and performance management processes to company standards.
* Ensure employees are adequately trained and developed to meet the need of the job.

Key Skills
*Demonstrated people leadership and competency to manage a widely spread staff compliment.
*Candidate must be willing to travel nationally regularly – this includes long distances by car and time away from home.

CPT Based.
Solid Logistics experience 5 – 10 yrs.
FMCG experience.
