Factory Manager, Cape Town

Duties & Responsibilities

• Plan and draw up production schedules.
• Decide on and order the resources that are required and ensure stock levels remain adequate.
• Lead the production function within budget and output targets to meet customer requirements and quality standards.
• Ensure that the production will be cost effective by estimating costs and negotiating and agreeing budgets with both clients and managers.
• Monitor the production processes and adjust schedules as needed, coordinating production schedule changes with other departments.
• Monitor productivity rates and product standards and ensure the quality standards are met.
• Arrange maintenance of any damaged equipment.
• Liaise with different departments, teams, and companies, e.g., suppliers, managers, clients.
• Work with managers to implement the company's policies and goals.
• Collate and analyze data, produce production reports.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with service providers.
• Ensure the target productivity level is achieved on a regular basis.
• Compare actual and estimated product costings and report on exceptions.
• Identify business improvement opportunities within the organization.
• Responsible for developing an enthusiastic, motivated, and flexible team by building working relationships, ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to.
• Review worker performance and identify training needs.

Qualifying Criteria

• Relevant Tertiary Education (e.g., National Diploma: Production and Inventory Management)
• Minimum 3-5 year's FMCG environment experience in a related position
• Food production planning experience
• Supervising / Management experience
• Experience in working with Unions advantageous
• Must be computer literate in MS Office; Excel, Word, and Outlook (Syspro will be advantageous/Pivot tables and V-Look Ups)
• Own reliable vehicle and driver's license
