Mine Manager (Botswana)

Requirements, Qualification, Experience and Technical Requirements

• Botswana Resident – the candidate must be local (not negotiable)
• Tertiary Education: Degree in Mining Engineering
• Mine Manager's Certificate
• Valid Botswana blasting license for open-pit operations
• 3 – 5 Years' Experience with CGME approval
• 8 - 10 Years relevant experience which includes operations experience, contractor mine management and Production and planning
• Experienced in dealing with the regulatory bodies of the mining sector, including participation on the Health and
• Safety boards
• Experienced with the opening of new mining areas
• Experienced within open cast mining and quarrying
• Valid driver's license with a clear driving record
• Clear criminal record

Job Description

• Responsible for planning the operating budget for the mine including controlling expenditures
• Conducting inspections as well as providing guidance and advice to the asset management process.
• Managing operations, and ensuring Legal Safety compliance
• Required to manage labour and performance and ensure production targets are achieved.
• Safe Production – Managing production operations and making appropriate adjustments in order to deliver agreed-upon volumes at optimal productivity and cost in normal time
• Ensure health & safety obligations & accountabilities are being met and strive to reduce risk across the operation with strong risk management skills
• Ensuring execution of engineering and maintenance strategies/plans
• Overall accountability for strategy to strive towards best in class safety performance and continuous improvement of key safety metrics
• enquired to set up schedules, places orders, track production, and engage in all other administrative requirements
• Data analysis and interpretation thereof
• Oversee the recruitment and development of superintendents, supervisors, and operators, providing support, encouragement, advice and guidance to build an effective workforce
