Registered Nurse - Frail Care, Cape Town

Our client is seeking a Registered Nurse to be based in the Helderberg area for an old age home – frail care

Duties include the following, but not limited to

• Take over day and night report.
• Instructions to staff with regards to tasks.
• Daily rounds by the residents.
• Report to the Manager regarding the status of the residents.
• Input regarding nutritional needs of the residents and ensure dietician/doctors prescriptions are carried out within the policy of the facility.
• Timeous referral to relevant services e.g. Pathology, X-Rays, Doctors.
• Update and adjust care plans where necessary.
• Accompany Doctor on rounds and immediate execution of instructions.
• Monitoring and interpretation of vital signs and recording of vital signs.
• Checking of emergency equipment weekly and after use.
• Compiling care plans according to the nursing process.
• Daily work list.
• Ensure all forms are used.
• Reporting incidents and problems to management.
• Ordering, receiving, and recoding of medication.
• Correct storage of resident's medication.
• Correct disposal of medication.
• Maintain infection prevention control.
• Adhere to all protocols and procedures.
• Supervision and training staff in correct use of resources.
• Must attend all training provided by management.

Requirements:

• A relevant nursing qualification
• Registration with SANC
• Minimum of 2-3 years' experience with the elderly
• Excellent English and Afrikaans communication skills
• Committed to clinical excellence
• Able and willing to learn new procedures and technique
• Effective patient care
• Must be prepared to work shifts – 7 – 7 shifts.

Salary: R24 000, pension, medical aid
