Mechatronics Engineer Intern, Cape Town

We are seeking a motivated and driven Mechatronics Engineer Intern to join our Engineering team. This role involves working in a cross-functional, project-focused environment, supporting automation, production systems, machine upgrades, and digital engineering solutions within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engineering projects from concept through to implementation

• Develop and integrate automation systems (PLC, HMI, motion control, vision systems, SCADA, server-side and front-end systems, data and analytics)

• Assist with machine builds and upgrades (electrical, mechanical, and control systems)

• Troubleshoot complex manufacturing issues and implement long-term solutions

• Support reliability and predictive maintenance projects

• Maintain accurate technical documentation and project reports

• Apply engineering standards and equipment data models

• Work collaboratively across departments

• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Quality, GMP, and Food Safety standards

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric)

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronics Engineering (preferred)

• Related Engineering Degree with cross-disciplinary capability will be considered

• Diploma in Mechatronics with strong technical capability may be considered

• 1–2 years relevant experience (advantageous)
