Principal Mechanical Engineer, Cape Town

Job Description

Approve, guide, and review engineering designs, calculations, and design development to ensure technical accuracy and compliance

Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, scopes, and manage scope variations with supporting documentation

Oversee drafting deliverables and provide technical direction to the design team

Develop and approve technical documentation, material take-offs, scopes of work, and equipment specifications

Evaluate vendor tenders, coordinate inter‑discipline technical integration, and ensure engineering outputs align with scope, cost, and schedule

Skills&Experience

Minimum 15+ years’ post‑graduate experience in a senior mechanical engineering role

Registered ECSA Professional Engineer or Professional Engineering Technologist

Strong technical aptitude with advanced analytical and problem‑solving skills

Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary coordination and mentor engineers‑in‑training

Demonstrated track record of delivering high‑quality engineering outputs within budget and schedule constraints

Qualification

Minimum BEng / BSc in Mechanical Engineering

Only South African Residents or individuals with a relevant South African work permit will be considered.
