Tool Maker Position

Our client, a leading engineering firm specialising in plastic injection systems, wants to appoint a Tool Maker at their plant in Epping, Cape Town. The person will be responsible for operating various machines to perform high precision machining jobs. Duties&Responsibilities

Manufacturing and machine spares according to production requirements. Ensuring that breakdowns are attended to in time. Ensuring that all planned maintenances are completed as per schedule. Providing maximum machine efficiency with minimum breakdowns. Ensuring that maintenance carried out is of high quality.Working with fine tolerances. Preventative maintenance on moulds, reporting on the mould condition and replacement parts. Troubleshooting initiatives. Repairing of moulds, fitting replacement parts/spares. Stripping, repairing and understanding plastic injection systems. Complete all production readiness checks, water leak test and testing heaters and TC’s.Ensure moulds are operating optimally, all slide ways and moving parts are greased. Minimize mould downtime, ensuring moulds are repaired/serviced efficiently. Adhere 100% to the maintenance schedule. Practice high standards of housekeeping and safety. Desired Experience&Qualification

Completed Tool, Jig and Die maker or Fitter and Turner Trade Test (Red Seal). Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a qualified Toolmaker or Fitter and Turner. Must work to a zero tolerance on machine parts. Plastic mould maintenance and repairs advantageous. Accurate, practical, systematic and good multi-tasking abilities.Good communication (English and Afrikaans) and interpersonal skills. Understand quality controls and be able to complete checks pertaining to quality. Have technical understanding and mechanical aptitude. Able to read and interpret drawings and follow work instructions. Be a hard-working, dedicated individual who understands the importance of attention to detail.Be willing to work overtime when required. Be willing to go the extra mile and follow all guidance and instructions. Be reliable and a meticulous timekeeper with a passion for quality. Logical, systematic approach to duties. Package&Remuneration

R120 to R150 per hour plus overtime.
