Debtors Manager - Logistics
Location:
Cape Town, Northern Suburbs
Salary:
R45 000.00– R50 000.00 CTC per month
Our client, a leading logistics company based in Cape Town, Northern Suburbs are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented
Debtors Manager
who will be responsible for managing the full debtor’s function within a fast-paced transport and logistics environment. The role includes oversight of invoicing and collections, credit risk management, cash flow optimisation, and the people management and HR-related administration of the debtor’s team.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and oversee the full debtor’s function, including invoicing, allocations, collections, and reconciliations
Ensure accurate and timeous invoicing in line with transport contracts, rate cards, PODs, and SLAs
Monitor debtor age analysis and actively manage overdue accounts
Implement and enforce credit control policies and procedures
Assess customer creditworthiness and recommend credit limits
Liaise with operations and claims teams to resolve invoicing disputes efficiently
Ensure follow-up on outstanding PODs and supporting documentation but also resolving queries.
Prepare monthly debtors reports, forecasts, and cash flow projections
Reduce debtor days and bad debt exposure
Manage escalations, payment arrangements, and legal handovers where required
Maintain strong client relationships while enforcing payment terms
HR&Team Management
Lead, supervise, and manage the debtors team
Allocate workloads, set performance expectations, and monitor output
Conduct performance reviews, coaching, and development plans for team members
Manage attendance, leave, and timekeeping in line with company policies
Address disciplinary issues, poor performance, and misconduct in accordance with labour legislation and company procedures
Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and training of new debtors staff
Foster a positive, professional, and high-performance team culture
Ensure compliance with HR policies, POPIA, and internal controls
Minimum Requirements
Matric (essential)
Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
Minimum of
5 years’ experience
in a debtors management role
Transport / logistics industry experience is (advantageous)
Proven experience managing a team
Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation (advantageous)
Strong Excel and accounting system experience (e.g. Sage, Pastel, SAP, or similar).
Key Competencies Required
Strong understanding of credit risk assessment techniques, credit analysis, and credit scoring models.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial statements, credit reports, and other credit-related data.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams and interact with customers.
Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
Strategic thinking and problem‑solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
Strong leadership, coaching, and people‑management skills
Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict‑resolution skills
High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
Professional, fair, and consistent management style
Salary:
Competitive Cost to Company of R45 000 to R 50 000.00 per month.
