About The Organisation And The Role The Cape Jewish Chronicle is a cornerstone of the Cape Town Jewish community. With a monthly digital edition and three print editions annually—timed with major Jewish holidays—our publication reaches Jewish households locally, nationally, and abroad. We are a key communication and storytelling platform for our vibrant and diverse community. We are looking for a Sales Executive with a passion for media, relationship‑building, and community engagement. The successful candidate will be responsible for selling advertising space across both print and digital formats, growing our advertiser base, and nurturing long‑standing client relationships.
Part‑time
– four hours per day, Monday to Friday, 9am–1pm (can be discussed). Location: Cape Town (Gardens).
Main Duties&Responsibilities Advertising Sales&Revenue Growth
Sell advertising space in monthly digital editions, print issues, and on the website
Prospect and develop new business from local and regional enterprises
Build tailored advertising packages that meet client goals and budgets
Negotiate rates and close advertising deals within pricing structures
Meet or exceed monthly and annual revenue targets
Relationship Management&Client Service
Maintain strong, long‑term relationships with existing advertisers
Provide post‑sales support and encourage repeat business
Represent the Chronicle at community events and networking opportunities
Act as a brand ambassador with professionalism and warmth
Sales Process&Collaboration
Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation to contract signing
Collaborate with the editorial and design teams for advert placement and scheduling
Prepare professional proposals and maintain accurate records of sales activity
Keep CRM and billing systems up to date with client data and interactions
Digital&Industry Awareness
Use LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and other tools for lead sourcing and market trends
Stay informed about digital advertising formats and community media dynamics
Understand digital performance metrics (impressions, CTRs, etc.) to support sales strategies
Required Skills&Experience Work Experience and Industry Exposure
At least 2–5 years in sales, media, advertising, or marketing
Experience in print or digital advertising highly advantageous
Familiarity with the Jewish community landscape a plus
Strong Communication&Interpersonal Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication
Skilled in pitching, negotiation, and closing deals
Warm, confident, and relationship‑driven
Sales and Technical Skills
Target‑focused with a proactive sales mindset
Proficient in Microsoft Office, email, and CRM platforms
Confident using social media for business development
Basic understanding of digital advertising metrics
General / Personal Attributes
Self‑starter who works independently and takes initiative
Organised, dependable, and deadline‑conscious
Passionate about community engagement and media impact
