A client in the engineering consultancy sector is seeking a qualified Electrical Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality electrical engineering designs and project work across various stages as per ECSA guidelines. This includes project delivery, design work, mentoring of junior engineers, and contributing to business development.

Business Development and Support

Attend tender briefings and assist in the preparation of proposals, pricing, and documentation.

Ensure compliance with internal project registration and risk analysis procedures.

Maintain quality assurance standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Uphold Health and Safety regulations in office and on-site environments.

Support the development of the electrical engineering portfolio and contribute to client acquisition efforts.

Project Management and Delivery

Lead and participate in all technical aspects of projects, from concept through to detailed design and documentation.

Take professional responsibility for electrical design outputs in line with ECSA regulations.

Manage small to medium-sized projects effectively.

Design systems including but not limited to: power, lighting, fire detection, CCTV, access control, emergency power, telecoms, and nurse call.

Experience with healthcare and similar infrastructure projects is advantageous.

Knowledge of renewable energy solutions (e.g., solar PV, BESS) is beneficial.

Oversee project scoping, change management, and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Provide technical support and mentorship to team members.

Contribute to project documentation, procurement, construction, and commissioning processes.

Training and Mentoring

Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain or pursue ECSA professional registration.

Mentor and coach candidate engineers and technologists, providing technical guidance and leadership.

Stakeholder and Team Management

Maintain strong working relationships with internal teams and external clients.

Manage project teams, ensuring goals are met on time and within budget.

Support the development of internal standards and engineering best practices.

Requirements

Education: B.Eng in Electrical Engineering from a recognised institution.

Professional Registration: Registration with ECSA as a Pr.Eng is preferred or must be eligible within one year of appointment.

Experience: Minimum of 10 years post-qualification experience in electrical engineering design and project delivery.

Essential Skills and Knowledge

In-depth knowledge of SANS 10142 and 10400-XA.

Ability to manage independently and deliver all project stages.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, ReticMaster, DIALux, Relux, and solar design software (e.g., Helioscope).

Advantageous: Experience with AutoCAD/REVIT and MS Project.

Strong MS Office skills, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.

Financial acumen in project budgeting and control.

Strong problem-solving and engineering judgment.

High attention to detail and design accuracy.

Strong interpersonal skills and client relationship management.
