A leading business in the Point-of-Sale and retail display industry is seeking a Designer Engineer / Industrial Engineer to join their technical design team.
The role focuses on bridging the gap between creative 3D concepts and practical, cost-effective manufacturing. You will translate high-quality 3D renders into detailed technical drawings, assembly instructions, and accurate Bill of Materials ready for production.
Responsibilities
Translate conceptual 3D renders into practical, manufacturable technical drawings that are feasible, cost-effective, and structurally sound.
Produce detailed technical drawings accompanied by clear substrate recommendations and comprehensive assembly instructions.
Compile complete and accurate Bills of Materials (BOM) for costing on every project.
Provide expert input on material selection, considering the strengths, weaknesses, and best applications of various substrates (MDF, natural woods, acrylic, metals, cladding, glass, laminates, etc.).
Apply in-depth knowledge of various manufacturing methods including joinery, CNC machining, UV printing, metalwork, laser cutting, 3D printing, and related processes.
Work closely with the 3D design team, production, and costing departments to ensure designs are optimized for quality, cost, and timely delivery.
Requirements
A relevant qualification in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
Proven experience translating 3D concepts into production-ready technical documentation.
Strong ability to create detailed technical drawings with accurate assembly instructions.
Solid experience compiling Bills of Materials (BOM) for manufacturing projects.
In-depth knowledge of a wide variety of substrates (MDF, natural woods, acrylic, metals, cladding, glass, laminates, etc.) and their practical applications, strengths, and limitations.
Hands‑on knowledge and experience with various manufacturing methods such as joinery, CNC machining, UV printing, metalwork, laser cutting, and 3D printing.
High attention to detail with excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to balance creativity with manufacturability and cost efficiency.
Strong portfolio demonstrating technical drawing, BOM compilation, and manufacturing knowledge.
