Technical Sales Engineer Packhouse Automation, Cape Town

Job Description:

Identify, prospect, and engage potential customers within the fruit and vegetable industry Develop and execute sales plans to grow market share Present and demonstrate machinery capabilities and full packing line solutions Lead negotiations and close sales agreements and contracts Understand customer production requirements and technical challengesCompile detailed project specifications, including technical layouts, proposals, and quotations Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction Handle customer enquiries, objections, and technical discussions professionally Maintain up-to-date knowledge of products, machinery, and industry trendsProvide market and customer feedback to support product development and continuous improvement Skills&Experience: Strong understanding of mechanical systems, automated packing solutions, and industrial equipment Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications Knowledge of fruit and vegetable packhouse operations and workflows Proven ability to apply a solution-based sales approach and close dealsStrong negotiation, reporting, and commercial awareness Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present to both technical and non-technical stakeholders Strong relationship-building and client engagement skills Good planning, organisation, and time management abilities Ability to manage multiple opportunities and prioritise effectivelyAnalytical mindset with the ability to address initial technical queries Creative approach to tailoring solutions Fluent in English and Afrikaans Minimum three to five years’ experience in technical sales within industrial equipment, machinery, or automation Experience in agricultural machinery or packhouse solutions is advantageousProven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets Qualifications: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Agribusiness Management, or Sales and Marketing with strong technical aptitude. Understanding of packhouse operations is advantageous.Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel nationally. Willingness to travel internationally when required. Ability to work independently in a hybrid environment (office and field) Only South African Residents or individuals with a relevant South African work permit will be considered.
