Area Manager - Security, Cape Town, South Africa

Our client, a well-established security services company, is seeking an experienced and highly operational Area Manager to oversee large-scale corporate and industrial security operations within the greater Cape Town region.

This role is suited to a hands-on operational leader who is comfortable being in the field, managing high-pressure operational environments, and ensuring exceptional service delivery across multiple sites and clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of multiple corporate and industrial security sites within the assigned region.
• Manage and support a team of Operations Managers to ensure operational efficiency and service excellence.
• Ensure all sites operate according to company standards, client requirements, and industry regulations.
• Conduct regular site visits, inspections, and operational audits to maintain visibility and operational control.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate and industrial clients.
• Investigate and resolve operational incidents, complaints, disciplinary matters, and service delivery challenges.
• Monitor staffing levels, rostering, absenteeism, overtime, and overall operational performance.
• Analyse operational performance and implement strategies to improve service delivery, efficiency, and profitability.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, PSIRA regulations, and company policies.
• Oversee a large operational portfolio with significant monthly billing responsibility.
• Remain operationally available when required, including overtime and holiday periods.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar Area Manager or Operations Management role within the security industry.
• Strong corporate and industrial security experience is essential.
• Proven experience managing multiple sites and large operational portfolios.
• Strong leadership and people management skills with experience managing middle-management structures.
• Excellent client relationship management and communication abilities.
• Hands-on operational leadership style with willingness to spend significant time in the field.
• Strong operational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience with operational reporting, workforce management, and service delivery monitoring.
• Good understanding of compliance, PSIRA regulations, and security industry operational standards.
• Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel regularly between sites.

Preferred Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Business Management, Operations Management, Security Management, or a related field.
• PSIRA registration will be advantageous.
• Strong administrative and reporting skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and operational management systems.
