Description
Role Overview As an Amazon Critical Infrastructure Engineer, you will provide full life‑cycle support to AWS data centers from design inception through site improvement and maintenance. You will be the go‑to engineering resource for your region, using your subject‑matter expertise to troubleshoot incidents, design upgrades, conduct audits, and support construction and commissioning activities.
Responsibilities
Troubleshoot, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and create Corrective Action (CA) documentation for site/equipment failures.
Directly support operational issues with ad‑hoc training, complex operating procedure reviews, including critical equipment, and event support.
Own the conceptual design for existing data‑center upgrades and design solutions that add capacity, improve availability, increase efficiency, and enhance sustainability.
Interface with the internal data‑center operations team, design engineering team, server‑hardware team, and environmental health and safety team to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability in services delivered.
Develop innovative solutions for AWS’s data centers.
Work on concurrent projects, sometimes across multiple geographical regions.
Initiate and lead engineering audits, including on‑site visits within Amazon data centers, and produce reports outlining risks with recommended mitigations and remediations.
Act as resident engineer during new construction projects, supporting construction, commissioning, and turnover.
Qualifications
Knowledge of HVAC systems.
Experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission‑critical facilities, especially data centers.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or an equivalent field.
Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.
Knowledge of commercial or industrial power systems or mechanical systems.
Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment or mass production.
Experience utilizing web‑based and other software tools for calculation and data processing.
