Sample Machinist - Design Centre - Sample Room, Cape Town

Position Description:

A position has become available for a Sample Machinist at TFG Design Centre. 

You will be required to:

-          complete a total sample garment according to quality standards and requirements.  

-          assemble the sample garment from beginning to end and pass it on  to the finishers

-          liaise with the pattern makers regarding garment construction and any pattern discrepancies or fabric problems

-          collecting trims required for the sample garment

-          carry out any other machining of finishing work as required by the Sample Room Manager

Key requirements:

-          Proven work experience 

-          The ability to work accurately with a high attention to detail

-          The ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines 

-          To be responsible, reliable and self-motivated 

-          Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team

-          Organizational and planning skills

-          Must be able to read and write

-          Must be able to understand (read) a pattern, sketch and information

-          Must be able to sew all type of garments (eg. pants, tops, skirt, dress, jackets) and fabrics (eg. woven, knits)

-          Must be able to operate all types of machines and know what they are used for (understand construction of garments)

-          Must be able to solve problems by involving the relevant people

-          Must have knowledge about quality standards of garments and that it is production friendly

-          Must be punctual, driven and have good communication skills

-          Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
