Senior RPG/AS400 Developer— Drive System Innovation, Cape Town

We are looking for a suitable candidate for the position of Senior Developer for the Marketing Team within the IT Department. Senior Developer will be expected to perform system analysis, write technical specifications, assist in system analysis, develop new functionality as per business requirements and provide support for applications. The Position will report to the IT Marketing Technical Team Lead.

Purpose and Objectives

Required to partake in the development of application code, by liaising with other developers via designing and planning to satisfy the requirements of business users

Coach Developers to ensure that code standards and the development process are adhered

Plan and implement solutions for effective development of a program in order to meet specifications and deadlines

Required to stay abreast of industry standards

Plan and execute Unit Testing, Systems Integration Testing, and archiving of test results

Partake in the development of System/Functional Documentation, operations manuals, systems processes, and technical designs.

Work with Systems Analyst in the writing of technical specifications according to functional requirements

Contribute to the translation of functional requirements into design specifications, according to the development standards in area of responsibility

Responsible for developing quality code according to technical specification

Analyse, resolve difficult/complex system issues, by working with the end-users and other IT support staff

Required to do standby.

Education

Relevant technical or business qualification - Degree or Diploma

Knowledge

Knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle (Essential)

Understanding of the Retail and Loyalty environment

Strong SQL/SQL Server knowledge

Skills

Strong problem-solving skills

Sound OO programming and solid technical skills

C# an added advantage

Experience

Minimum 5 years IT experience

Minimum 3 years system analysis and design experience (Essential)

SharePoint experience an advantage
