SGS Matrocast, a division of SGS South Africa (Pty) Ltd, is seeking to fill various roles in its Civil Engineering Site Laboratories in the Western Cape areas. The role includes but is not limited to assisting the Supervisor/Laboratory Manager with all materials testing tasks, whether it’s on site or in the commercial laboratory. To clean all equipment on a regular basis. To complete materials testing in all laboratory division, including soils, asphalt, seals, concrete, aggregate with bench calculation as and when required for testing.

Responsibilities

Material Testers (Various Locations)

Must be competent and qualified to execute all tests in one laboratory division (i.e.: soils, asphalt / seals, concrete /aggregate) with bench calculations.

Fieldwork (densities, layer/stockpile sampling, manufacture and handle concrete cubes, DCP, Ring and Ball test (road surfaces), Sand Patch, On site Viscosity tests, Sampling of Asphalt and Bitumen).

Senior Materials Tester (Lab and Fieldwork) (Various Locations)

Fieldwork (densities, layer/stockpile sampling, manufacture and handle concrete cubes, DCP, Ring and Ball test (road surfaces), Sand Patch, On site Viscosity tests, Sampling of Asphalt and Bitumen).

Competent and qualified to do all tests in all laboratory divisions (i.e.: soils, asphalt / seals, concrete / aggregate) and do all calculations in full.

Control laboratory activities i.e.: quality control under supervision.

Qualifications

Grade 12

Language: Proficiency in English (Read, write, speak)

Computer literacy in Word, Excel, Outlook

Must be competent and comfortable with latest test methods

Additional Information

Sampling and preparation experience advantageous

Administration experience will be advantageous
