Accounts Payable Clerk, Cape Town

Job Description

We are recruiting for an Accounts Payable Clerk on behalf of a client to join a fast-paced finance team. This opportunity is ideal for a candidate who enjoys working in a structured environment, has strong analytical abilities, and can build effective relationships with both internal stakeholders and external vendors.

Responsibilities:

Ensure all Accounts Payable transactions are processed accurately, completely, and within the correct accounting period. Prepare monthly General Ledger reconciliations and follow up on open and outstanding items. Perform key Accounts Payable controls including GR/IR, duplicate payments, debit balances, and blocked payments. Monitor vendor ageing and foreign payments. Analyse and process daily EFT payment runs. Assist with internal control processes and support continuous process improvements. Participate in SAP/FIORI/ARIBA enhancements and Accounts Payable testing initiatives. Maintain strong vendor relationships and ensure efficient query resolution to avoid operational disruptions. Support audit processes and ensure compliance with internal control standards.

Requirements:

BCom Accounting Degree or equivalent Accounting qualification. 1–2+ years’ experience in an Accounts Payable or finance-related role. Strong understanding of accounting principles, particularly Accounts Payable. MS Office proficiency is essential. SAP experience preferred. Ariba experience preferred. Coupa experience advantageous. Exposure to audits, compliance policies, and internal controls will be beneficial. Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
