Senior Tax Compliance Officer, Milnerton

A position has become available for a dynamic senior tax compliance officer to help grow our tax compliance team. We are looking for an individual to look after the full tax compliance function for the individual and trust tax clients of Forvis Mazars.

Duties and Responsibilities

Gather and collate tax related information from clients and third parties to complete returns such as ITR12, IT12T, and IRP6 editions 1, 2, and 3; prepare these returns and associated tax computations; reconcile assessments; attend to all related queries and SARS objections (NOO, NOA, ADR1); apply for tax clearance certificates; ensure quality control by preparing completed checklists for return reviews; achieve yearly KPI’s in tax returns submitted, fees billed, and client registrations.

Manage estate tax compliance duties, including income tax registration of estates, completion of pre‑DOD tax returns (including deemed disposals for CGT and calculations of usufruct and bare dominium), completion of post‑DOD returns up to final distribution; request deceased estate compliance letters from SARS; manage individual productivity by achieving agreed productive hours and serve an average portfolio of 300 clients.

Qualifications

Grade 12

Tax or other relevant qualification advantageous

At least 5 years of relevant tax compliance experience

Estate tax compliance experience beneficial

Working knowledge and proven application of relevant tax laws and regulations

Ability to gather information, analyse problems, and write reports

Stays focused and works productively in a high‑pressure environment

Deadline‑oriented with minimum supervision required

Ability to plan, prioritise and organise workload, managing an average portfolio of 300 clients

Solution‑oriented and able to overcome setbacks

Attention to detail is essential

Accounting knowledge advantageous

Greatsoft knowledge advantageous

Keeping abreast with latest tax legislation
