What will you do? The main function of the Training Practitioner is to ensure staff are functionally trained and competent to execute the work coming into the team. The Training Practitioner is responsible for the updating of all training material, Checklist and Guide Forms, and the execution of Quality evaluations, where applicable. The Team Manager is ultimately accountable for the sustainability, service ability, quality, back‑ups and succession planning for the team while the Training Practitioner supports with the planning and execution of actions to attain these goals. The main tool for managing knowledge in the REMS team is the Compass and the Training Practitioner is accountable for the regular updating and data mining of Compass.
Responsibilities
Implement training strategy and plans and align with business strategy.
Consult with stakeholders to identify learning and development needs.
Administer the Workplace Skills Plan and coordinate external training interventions where required.
Design and develop engaging learning content, including classroom‑based, virtual, and online courses.
Develop training and support materials that are practical, relevant, and learner focused.
Design and implement pre‑and post‑learning assessments to measure learning effectiveness and knowledge transfer.
Apply flexible and agile learning approaches to ensure effective learning journeys and continuous upskilling.
Facilitate new starter onboarding programmes as well as continuous upskilling initiatives for existing employees.
Plan, organise, and clearly communicate learning events and interventions.
Prepare for learning interventions through content review, research, and side‑by‑side job shadowing.
Use a variety of facilitation methods and learning activities to maximise learner engagement in both classroom and virtual environments.
Provide ongoing support during and after training interventions to reinforce learning and drive application in the workplace.
Coach, develop, and mentor learners to build competence and confidence.
Collaborate with Team leaders, Team Managers, and other stakeholders to ensure the effectiveness of learning interventions and continuous improvement of learning journeys.
Conduct quality checks on work outputs to assess proficiency levels and identify skill or training gaps.
Evaluate learner performance and provide constructive, actionable feedback.
Maintain accurate training records, including attendance registers, learning material, assessments, and feedback reports.
Monitor training effectiveness and use insights to refine and enhance learning solutions.
Qualification and Experience
Matric.
Relevant training related qualification would be advantageous.
3–5 years relevant REMS and Sanlam experience.
Knowledge and Skills
Facilitation/presentation of training.
Training assessments and feedback/reporting.
Training material/content development and updating.
Training queries, ad‑hoc support and projects.
Knowledge of team/sector structure in REMS and business units.
Knowledge of work/sector terminology in REMS.
Good knowledge of operations and processes in REMS, SLS and Sanlam.
Knowledge of Legacy Platform and Sanlam Life Legacy products (minimum of 2 years’ experience).
Knowledge of Epsilon Platform and Stratus Policy products (minimum of 2 years’ experience).
Commission rules on Sanlam Life products and knowledge of legislation pertaining to the insurance industry, labour and tax.
Knowledge of operations/processes in REMS teams.
MS: Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
