Infrastructure and Cloud Manager, Cape Town

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our client is seeking an experienced Infrastructure & Cloud Manager to lead the design, management, optimisation, security and scalability of their enterprise infrastructure estate.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the availability, reliability, security and cost-effectiveness of cloud, on-premise and hybrid infrastructure environments while driving operational excellence and supporting business growth.

This is a strategic and hands-on leadership role that combines infrastructure architecture, cloud operations, cybersecurity, governance, disaster recovery and FinOps.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure & Service Reliability

• Design and manage resilient cloud, hybrid and on-premise infrastructure.
• Ensure maximum uptime and service availability.
• Implement proactive monitoring and alerting.
• Maintain and test disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
• Partner with application teams to implement effective change management processes.
• Reduce recurring infrastructure incidents and improve operational stability.

Performance & Scalability

• Implement performance monitoring and capacity planning.
• Architect scalable environments capable of supporting future growth.
• Optimise infrastructure performance and resource utilisation.
• Manage data storage, backup and infrastructure efficiency.

Security & Compliance

• Develop and execute infrastructure security strategies.
• Lead vulnerability management and patching initiatives.
• Manage incident response processes.
• Ensure compliance with relevant governance and security frameworks.
• Participate in technology governance and risk management forums.

Cloud Cost Optimisation (FinOps)

• Implement cloud cost management practices.
• Monitor and optimise cloud expenditure.
• Negotiate with vendors and service providers.
• Drive efficiencies through automation, rightsizing and resource optimisation.

Non-Negotiable Requirements

Experience

• 5–7 years Infrastructure and/or Cloud Management experience.
• 5+ years infrastructure design, support and operations experience.
• 3–5 years leadership or people management experience.
• Experience managing hybrid cloud environments.
• Experience with cloud security, governance and compliance.
• Proven exposure to cloud cost optimisation and FinOps practices.
