Senior Financial Accountant (CA(SA)), Cape Town

Location: Devonbosch, Western Cape (between Stellenbosch and Brackenfell)

An established multinational agricultural commodities group is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant (CA(SA)) to join its finance team. This is a permanent onsite position based at Devonbosch.

The organisation operates across multiple countries and is involved in agricultural commodity trading, processing, manufacturing, and logistics. This role offers exposure to a complex multinational environment and will play a key role in financial reporting, compliance, audit management, taxation, and financial control across various business units.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting and Control

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records and reporting.
• Prepare annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
• Review and reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts.
• Drive month-end and year-end reporting processes.
• Support group reporting and consolidation activities.

Tax and Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure compliance with all relevant tax legislation and statutory requirements.
• Review and oversee VAT, PAYE, Income Tax, and provisional tax submissions.
• Manage tax calculations, accruals, and supporting schedules.
• Assist with regulatory and Reserve Bank reporting requirements.
• Monitor changes in accounting standards and legislation.

Audit and Governance

• Manage the annual external audit process.
• Liaise with internal and external auditors.
• Ensure strong internal controls and governance processes are maintained.
• Support compliance with corporate governance and risk management frameworks.
• Drive continuous improvement of financial controls and processes.

Treasury and Cash Management

• Review cash flow forecasts and treasury activities.
• Monitor banking relationships and reconciliations.
• Review local and foreign currency transactions.
• Assist with working capital optimisation initiatives.

Business Support and Analysis

• Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Analyse financial results and provide insights to management.
• Support operational teams with financial information and decision-making.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.
• Participate in strategic projects and business initiatives.

Minimum Requirements

• Chartered Accountant CA(SA) qualification.
• Minimum 5 years' post-articles experience.
• Experience within a multinational, manufacturing, FMCG, agricultural, commodities, logistics, or trading environment.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and South African tax legislation.
• Experience preparing annual financial statements and managing audits.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience working on ERP systems, preferably SAP.
• Strong analytical and financial modelling skills.
• Ability to operate effectively within a fast-paced and complex business environment.

Advantageous Experience

• Agricultural commodities, grain, milling, food production, or manufacturing exposure.
• Group reporting and consolidation experience.
• Treasury and foreign currency exposure.
• Multi-entity or multi-country financial reporting.
• Power BI or financial reporting tools.
