National Fleet and Security Manager, Centurion

Minimum Qualifications:

Degree/Diploma in Transport or Logistics Management

Min 4-5 years experience

SCOPE AND GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To establish, maintain, monitor and enhance systems, infrastructure and processes that ensure efficient and smooth operations of distribution and transport.

POSITION REPORTS TO: Managing Director

Roles and Responsibilities:

Fleet and Transport

• To ensure the implementation and development of policies and procedures for the transportation operations on a national basis.
• To ensure that the fleet is maintained in a good operating condition in order for the company to meet its objectives efficiently and cost effectively.
• Vehicles are maintained and serviced to ensure compliance with manufactures servicing schedules.
• To comply with legislation by ensuring all fleet vehicles are roadworthy and registered.
• To appoint service providers to service and maintain fleet vehicles.
• Do regular benchmarking with service providers to ensure competitive pricing i.r.o repairs and maintenance
• To appoint tracking companies to monitor fleet movement.
• Assist with the acquisition of new vehicles
• The disposal of redundant and or accident vehicles at the best possible price
• Liaise with financial institutions with regards to vehicle financing and reporting of usage of fleet.
• Liaise with financial institutions with regards to fleet management system in order to control and manage fleet expenses more effectively.
• Liaise with Insurance broker with regards to insurance claims. Ensure that all claims are registered. Do regular follow ups with broker regarding status of claims.
• The investigation of any suspicious and or serious claim submitted.

Security

• The planning, development and implementation of a National security strategy at all depots.
• To maintain a safe and secure environment for customers and employees
• Liaise with security companies in regards to security needs.
• The Investigation of all stock theft incidents.

Dispatch

• To Co-ordinate with the Dispatch Manager on the various operational functions of dispatch.
• To provide leadership and support to the dispatch department and staff.

Health & Safety

• Overall responsibility and compliance of the company's Health & Safety, making sure all staff are aware of the importance and to follow safety protocol.
• Implement practical and effective methods, both preventative and remedial, of promoting health and safety and safe working practices in the workplace.
• Conduct/organize relevant health & safety training for staff as required, including first aid and fire safety.
• Elect and set up Health & Safety meetings as per statutory requirements.
• Conduct all risk assessments as required by legislation and are reviewed at relevant intervals and to maintain records of the same
• Conduct & carry out internal and compliance audits at all depots and report any major non-conformances to Managing Director.
