Job Description
An exciting opportunity is available for a motivated Structural Engineer to join a dynamic consulting engineering environment focused on delivering specialised structural engineering solutions across heavy industrial sectors. The successful candidate will be involved in the structural analysis, design, and calculation of steel and industrial structures within demanding project environments.
The role is ideally suited to a technically strong engineer with experience in structural design and analysis within industrial projects related to mining, oil & gas, heavy engineering, and structural steel applications. The successful candidate will contribute to engineering excellence through detailed calculations, innovative design solutions, and collaboration within multidisciplinary project teams supporting complex industrial infrastructure projects.

Minimum Requirements

• BEng / BSc in Civil Engineering
• 2–5 years’ relevant structural engineering experience
• Experience in structural steel design and consulting engineering environments preferred
• Exposure to mining, oil & gas, heavy engineering, or industrial infrastructure projects advantageous
• Strong structural analysis and engineering design capability
• Proficiency in structural engineering design software and analytical tools
• Sound understanding of applicable South African design codes and engineering standards
• Strong technical report writing and calculation documentation skills
• Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary project teams
• Willingness to relocate to Secunda, Mpumalanga (relocation assistance provided)

Key Responsibilities

• Perform detailed structural calculations and engineering analysis for industrial steel and civil structures
• Develop safe, efficient, and cost-effective structural engineering designs
• Produce design documentation, technical calculations, and engineering reports
• Review and verify structural integrity and compliance with relevant standards and specifications
• Participate in project planning, design reviews, and technical coordination meetings
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver integrated project solutions
• Identify and resolve technical design challenges throughout project lifecycles
• Support project execution through technical guidance and design optimisation
• Ensure designs meet quality, safety, and operational requirements
• Contribute to continuous improvement in engineering design processes and methodologies
