Senior Structural Engineer, Centurion

Purpose of the Role
The Senior Structural Engineer will be responsible for leading structural engineering projects from concept through to completion, ensuring designs comply with relevant standards, safety regulations, and client requirements. The successful candidate will manage project teams, oversee technical deliverables, and provide mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
Key Responsibilities
Structural Design & Engineering

• Prepare and review structural designs, calculations, drawings, and specifications
• Design reinforced concrete, steel, timber, and masonry structures
• Conduct structural assessments and feasibility studies
• Ensure compliance with SANS codes, regulations, and industry standards
• Review shop drawings and contractor submissions

Project Management

• Manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously
• Coordinate project timelines, budgets, and resources
• Attend client, contractor, and site meetings
• Monitor project progress and resolve technical issues
• Ensure projects are delivered within budget and deadlines

Site Inspections & Quality Control

• Conduct site inspections and structural assessments
• Ensure construction complies with approved engineering designs
• Prepare inspection reports and recommendations
• Assist with troubleshooting structural defects and construction challenges

Leadership & Mentorship

• Mentor junior engineers, technicians, and draughtsmen
• Review and approve technical work completed by the engineering team
• Provide technical guidance and support across projects

Client & Stakeholder Management

• Build and maintain strong client relationships
• Liaise with architects, contractors, quantity surveyors, and other consultants
• Participate in business development and tender processes when required

Minimum Requirements

• BEng / BSc / BTech in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Professionally registered with Engineering Council of South Africa (PrEng or PrTechEng advantageous)
• Minimum 8–10 years’ experience in structural engineering design
• Strong experience in commercial, industrial, residential, and infrastructure projects
• Proficient in structural analysis and design software
• Experience with reinforced concrete, steel, timber, and masonry structures
• Knowledge of South African building regulations and codes
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Prokon, Revit, or similar engineering software
• Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport
• Excellent leadership, project management, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

Salary
Market-related salary package offered based on qualifications and experience.
Working Conditions

• Office-based in Centurion with regular site visits
• May require occasional travel to project sites
• Full-time permanent position
