This executive-level opportunity sits within a specialist policy and industry support environment and will lead a division responsible for accounting, auditing, and industry analysis across banking, insurance, and financial market infrastructure sectors. This rolerequires a technically exceptional and commercially astute leader who can provide strategic direction on complex accounting and auditing matters, oversee industry disclosure frameworks, and engage with senior stakeholders across the financial services ecosystem. You will play a critical role in shaping industry interpretation of prudential legislation, IFRS application, and disclosure standards while leading a high-performing technical division responsible for supporting supervisory teams and broader governance structures. Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the Accounting, Auditing and Industry Analysis function within a highly regulated financial services environment.
Provide strategic guidance on accounting, auditing, prudential legislation, and regulatory interpretation across banking, insurance, and FMIs.
Oversee technical advisory support relating to IFRS standards, particularly IFRS 9 and IFRS 17.
Drive industry analysis and reporting through management information, trigger reports, and sector publications.
Oversee disclosure frameworks, including Pillar 3 reporting requirements.
Engage with regulators, industry bodies, and professional associations on technical and prudential matters.
Influence governance structures and contribute to strategic regulatory initiatives.
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing specialist team.
Ensure divisional governance, risk management, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives are effectively implemented.
Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders across the broader financial services ecosystem.
Job Experience and Skills Required
CA(SA) qualification or Fellow of the Actuarial Society of South Africa.
10–12 years’ experience within the financial services or regulatory environment.
Minimum 5 years’ leadership or senior management experience.
Strong exposure to prudential regulation, financial services legislation, accounting, and auditing standards.
Deep understanding of IFRS, particularly IFRS 9 and IFRS 17.
Experience engaging with executive stakeholders, governance forums, and industry bodies.
Strong strategic leadership, analytical, and stakeholder management capability.
Exposure to banking, insurance, or financial market infrastructure environments would be highly advantageous.
