The Data Science&Analytics Team at DC Thomson is recruiting an experienced Data Analyst to join our team across London, Dundee, or Glasgow offices. During a time of digital transformation, the team has received support and investment to promote a data‑driven culture across the business.
The role offers the opportunity to mentor others and gain exposure to projects across different industries, brands and internal teams at a leading technology, information and media company. The Data Analyst will provide clear, accurate and timely insights that enable evidence‑based decision‑making across a diversified media, publishing and genealogy portfolio.
Key responsibilities include:
Build and maintain accurate, timely dashboards and reports that enable daily decision‑making.
Assist with data extraction, cleaning and basic modelling to ensure reliable inputs for analysis and visuals.
Deliver clear, concise analysis to answer defined business questions within agreed timelines.
Apply checks, validate numbers against sources and maintain definitions so outputs are trusted and repeatable.
Gather requirements, communicate status and ensure outputs are understandable and actionable.
Suggest small process or automation enhancements that reduce manual effort and improve consistency.
Requirements Skills– Essential
BI tools– e.g., Looker (preferred), Tableau, PowerBI
SQL
Event tracking and Web/App analytics: Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics and/or Snowplow
Consumer app/web analytics
Building data pipelines (preferably using dbt)
Desirable
Python
Data warehousing (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift) and ETL (e.g., FiveTran)
Subscription product experience
Experience
Demonstrable level of data literacy and ability to extract business needs from data requirements.
Ability to explain data to a less technical audience that influences key decision‑making and manages expectations.
Assist with collecting and analysing data; apply basic techniques to identify trends and prepare findings for review.
Support data structuring and simple models/tables to enable reporting and analysis.
Create clear, accurate visuals and dashboards that communicate key messages to non‑technical users.
Plan own tasks, track progress and meet agreed time/quality targets within small work packages.
Communicate with stakeholders to clarify needs and share outputs using agreed channels.

Experiment with purpose– try small improvements to reports/visuals and evaluate impact.
