Description

An excellent opportunity exists for an experienced individual to fulfill the role of Archivist on a Fixed Term Contract
basis of six months. Reporting to the Records Manager, the appointee will be implement and administer the
preservation of the organization's records and document management system and program.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
? Provide guidance to sections on records management as per the Records Management policy.
? Ensure that files are opened using an approved records classification system for both papers
based and electronic records.
? Provide services for the centralization of records
? Appraise the retention and disposal schedules for all business units based on guidance provided
by the Records Manager.
? Monitor and control the issuing of files
? Provide advice and guidelines to users regarding the migration of physical and electronic records
? Administers operational and maintenance applications associated with all electronic records
? Ensure accurate referencing of files for the eventual transfer to the centralized storage
? Ongoing liaisons with the off-site storage repository
? Controls archiving procedures in respect of aged/dated records based on their value
? Conduct training in relation to knowledge management, physical and electronic document
management systems and processes
REQUIREMENTS:
? National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Archival Studies or Library and Information Science with a
minimum of five years experience or
Bachelor's degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent relevant qualification with at
least three years solid experience in Archiving or Records Management
? Excellent planning and organisational skills, detail orientated, able to work independently or in
a team
? Must have supervisory skills. Knowledge and experience in Document Management Systems,
Document and Records management experience, knowledge management.
? Advanced computer skills, and knowledge of electronic records management.
? Minimum of a Code B Valid Driver's Licence
? High regard for confidentiality and integrity, attention to detail, and accuracy.
? Presentation skills and supervisory skills
