Senior Accountant, Durban

Location: Durban

Education and Experience

• Degree in Accounting or Finance 
• Min 4-5 Years Experience
• Knowledge of IFRS for SME's
• Knowledge of Tax legislation (Direct and Indirect)
• Understanding of Tax legislation (ETI)
• Understanding Tax year process – EMP501

Computer and Software Skills:

• Hands-on experience with accounting software packages – Accpac
• Advanced MS Excel skills including V-lookups and pivot tables
• Ability to manipulate large amounts of data and to compile detailed reports

Job Functions:

• Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
• Support month-end and year-end close process
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
• Liaise with our Financial Manager to improve financial procedures
• Reconcile and balance all accounts – Monthly
• Assist with tax audits, tax returns and employee tax reconciliation (EMP501)
• Direct external audits to ensure compliance
• Preparation of Monthly VAT reconciliation
• Strong understanding of the payroll cycle
