Senior Infrastructure Engineer, Durban

Client is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of information systems, including but not limited to voice, data, and wireless network services.

The successful candidate will need to show proven hands on experience managing, troubleshooting and supporting a complex, virtualized hybrid environment. All support, maintenance and troubleshooting will happen on live mission critical systems operating 24 x 7 x 365.

Minimum requirements:

• Strong VMWare, Hyper-V, and general virtualized environment skills
• Backup technologies eg. Veeam, storage backup solutions • Firewall, routers, load balancers
• Familiar with OpenShift
• DNS and DHCP
• Familiar with Red Hat open stack
• Cloud Infrastructure, On Prem, Azure
• VMware Certifications

Responsibilities:

• Excellent knowledge of Cloud networking, tracing, and troubleshooting
• Design and develop automated CI/CD infrastructure to allow Developers to rapidly innovate as we move to Infrastructure as Code.
• Strong understanding of common network protocols, including HTTP, HTTPS, TCP, SSL/TLS, and relevant diagnostic tools.
• Administration of the Windows/Linux network, including all servers.
• Management and patching of VMware platform.
• Docker, Kubernetes is an advantage.
• Creating of servers and deploying as required within the business group.
• Management of all software and hardware installations.
• Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity planning / recommendation.
• Timely installation of patches, updates, and service packs following patch audit assessments.
• Hands on working experience with LAN/WAN implementation, DNS changes / requests, advanced routing and switching on Cisco and Juniper hardware.
• Hands on working experience administering enterprise IP Storage in mission-critical, 24x7 production environments.
• Able to conduct research into networking issues and products as required.
• Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards.
• Extensive exposure to managing backup solutions / optimize current processes as the company grows.
• Design, maintenance, development, and evaluation of all infrastructure systems, including LANs, WANs, internet, intranet, wireless implementations, and standardisation.
• Storage knowledge.
