Process Safety Engineer, Durban

Our client who is a leader in the International Chemical Manufacturing industry is looking for a Process Safety Engineer to join their team.

As a Process Safety Engineer you will be responsible for managing all process engineering, process safety management and assigned capex projects for the manufacturing facility to ensure statutory, legal and corporate compliance and ensuring products are manufactured to meet corporate and customer requirements.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• BSc Chemical Engineering
• 5 to 10 years process safety experience in a high paced chemical manufacturing environment (batch processing reaction chemistry environment)
• Must be conversant with the entire manufacturing plant structure
• Strong understanding of system safety and hazard identification and risk analysis process (HIRA)
• Risk assessment skills
• General Problem solving using data analytics and root cause failure analysis techniques
• Knowledge of DCS configuration
• Advanced knowledge of related chemistries and chemical manufacturing technologies.
• Advanced knowledge of engineering and engineering design principles.
• Advanced project management skills and portfolio management principles and have the ability to lead projects.
• Strong leadership and management skills and abilities.
• Advanced knowledge of manufacturing processes, process safety, policies, procedures, OHS Act and other relevant legislation.
