Duties & Responsibilities
Are you a technically strong IT Support Engineer with Layer 2 networking expertise and hands-on experience working for Fibre Network Operators (FNOs)? This is a first-line support role where you will be the first point of contact for network-related issues, ensuring swift troubleshooting, minimal downtime, and reliable fibre optic network performance.
Non-Negotiables:
Proven experience with Fibre Optic Networks & Layer 2 protocols (VLANs, STP, MAC tables, managed switches)
Minimum 2 years’ work experience in support or networking
Strong troubleshooting skills in first-line network support
Bilingual: English & Afrikaans

Fibre optic cabling, splicing, and testing experience
Soft Skills
Strong problem-solving and analytical ability
Clear and professional communication (written and verbal)
Ability to work independently while knowing when to escalate issues
Customer-focused with resilience under pressure
Key Performance Areas (KPAs)
Provide first-line support for fibre optic and Layer 2 networking issues
Attend to ISP tickets and provide timely feedback to ISPs and end-users
Troubleshoot, document, and resolve network issues efficiently
Escalate unresolved cases to senior engineers where required
Maintain accurate documentation and troubleshooting guides
Perform routine network maintenance and assist with upgrades
