Accountant (Business Unit - Manufacturing), Durban, South Africa

Overview:

An opportunity for a detail-oriented and analytical finance professional to take ownership of financial reporting, cost control, and operational finance within a manufacturing business unit. This role supports strategic decision-making and ensures strong financial governance across the plant.

Requirements:

• Grade 12
• BCom / Diploma in Financial Accounting (or related)
• Minimum 2 years' experience in a finance/accounting role
• Strong Excel and MS Office skills
• Experience with ERP systems (advantageous)
• Staff management (advantageous)

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide financial analysis and support to operational teams and management
• Manage general ledger, including journals, accruals, and reconciliations
• Prepare and analyse weekly/monthly financial reports and variance reports
• Oversee budgeting and forecasting processes
• Monitor cash flow, working capital, and daily cash positions
• Manage CAPEX processes, fixed assets, and tooling registers
• Conduct cost and product costing analysis, including variance investigations (PPV)
• Oversee creditors, debtors, and stock control processes
• Ensure compliance with tax, statutory returns (VAT, PAYE, UIF, etc.), and internal controls
• Support audits (internal & external) and year-end processes
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within finance and operations
