This position reports to the Hub Manager

Purpose of this role :

Oversee the timely, efficient, and effective operations of delivery drivers

Manage drivers and delivery systems to optimize performance and reporting

Ensure smooth communication and information flow related to parcel loading, delivery, and system issues

Ensure adequate staffing and efficient deployment for daily operations

Uphold operational standards, resolve delivery queries, and manage returned goods

Ensure compliance with safety, security, and company policies

Maintain vehicles, equipment, and company assets

Promote company culture and manage staff performance and discipline

Your responsibilities can include:

It’s primary objectives therefore centres on timelines, efficiency and effectiveness of Drivers

Managing the drivers and various systems to optimizedelivery and reporting

Ensuring that all reporting relating to various vehicles, last Mile and driving staff is done promptly, accurately and effectively

Ensuring that the relevant chain of command is updated as soon as possible with any and all relevant information pertaining to the loading and delivery of parcels as well as any system issues encountered

Ensuring that adequate staff are present and on duty for the daily tasks

Ensuring that staff are efficiently tasked and effectively deployed

Ensuring that all operational imperatives are being upheld and that any current or potential blockers are raised quickly and effectively to the correct people

Ensuring returned goods are collected from Customers and returned to the Returns Department with the correct paperwork

Ensuring that all queries relating to drivers and deliveries are quickly and effectively resolved

Ensure that all Drivers sent onto the road have valid Drivers’ Licences and PDP’s

Ensure that admin staff have access to all relevant data and detail regarding deliveries, staff clocking times, leave etc.

Ensuring that any changes to deliveries that need to be affected by customers are done as soon as possible, efficiently as possible with the relevant parties being informed along the way. The system needs to be updated appropriately as well

Ensure that all driving staff are compliant with all relevant safety and security standards and procedures; as prescribed by the company, as well as all other measures detailed in the Driver’s job description and any other ancillary communication as given from time to time

Ensure that all drivers and assistants are correctly dressed in all PPE issued

Ensure that proper staff leave planning and submissions are done; in line with operational necessities and any other parameters as prescribed by the company

Ensure that all vehicles, hardware and/or equipment is maintained and looked after and is in good working order. Any deficiencies, need to be reported and investigated immediately.

Ensure that all due diligence is done in order to ensure the safety of all parcels and equipment within the warehouse area, on the road

Ensure that all loss of company assets and stock is minimized and that all missing items are afforded the appropriate diligence, in terms of tracing and finding

Ensure that reports as requested by management are submitted timeously

Ensure the Various systems are in line with the daily deliveries e.g. Branch Dashboard&Driver Dashboard

Develop and implement effective and efficient work processes and procedures complying with SOP

Supervise, coach and develop team

Implement discipline management and performance management of staff up to the first written warning stage, when necessary

Driving and promoting the company culture from within, over and above the rules and standards set out in various documents; thus, ensuring a workforce that is committed to excellence and success.

Inbound Operations

Oversee receiving, scanning, and verification of stock against documentation

Ensure consolidation of multiple pieces within the multi‑grid system for order completeness

Ensure complete orders are staged accurately in designated sort areas

Monitor and control receiving discrepancies, damages, and stock integrity

Ensure all damaged items are escalated timeously via Zendesk

Maintain accurate system updates and binning processes

Ensure efficient dock‑to‑stock turnaround times

Outbound Operations

Oversee preparation of stock for book‑out in line with dispatch requirements

Ensure accurate booking out of stock according to driver routes

Supervise loading of vehicles, including large vehicles, ensuring correct allocation

Ensure all parcels are correctly scanned and assigned before dispatch

Drive completion of book‑out processes by 06:00 to meet dispatch timelines

Monitor dispatch accuracy, delivery readiness, and fail‑rate control

Qualifications and experience:

Matric certificate

Certificate or qualification in Supply Chain, Logistics, Fleet Management, or similar (advantageous)

3 to 5 years’ experience in fleet control or similar supervisory roles

Strong leadership and team management skills

Punctuality and reliability

Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Good interpersonal and communication skills

Knowledge of routes and geography

Competent in computer use and common software

Administrative skills and attention to detail

Clean driving and criminal record

Sober habits and willingness to work overtime as required

Attributes required :

Ability to lead from the front and motivate a team

Proficient in managing delivery operations and staff

Effective in problem solving and decision making

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Good organizational and administrative capabilities

Sound understanding of safety, compliance, and vehicle maintenance

Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment
