Description
Responsibilities

Attend tender briefings, prepare tender documentation, write method statements, assist with pricing calculations, and contribute to tender processes as and when required.

Comply with company procedures and processes in terms of project registration and risk analysis.

Ensure auditable trails of actions during the full life cycle of project delivery in accordance with company Quality Management Procedures.

Comply with and embrace Health and Safety requirements in the workplace as well as on construction sites.

Ensure required services meet applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.

Contribute to the marketing and business development of the Electrical Department to on‑board new clients/projects.

Actively lead, participate, and contribute to the design and technical aspects of projects to ensure delivery on time, within budget and to specification.

Conceptualise, design development, and produce detail design work, as well as delivering contract documentation, specifications and drawings.

Sign‑off on engineering designs by taking professional responsibility as per ECSA guidelines.

Successfully manage small to medium‑size projects.

Provide technical support, supervision and advice to the discipline team and other project teams and participate in peer reviews.

Prepare project documentation such as proposals, estimates, budgets and schedules.

Prepare and evaluate alternative concept designs, and liaise with other disciplines, both internally and externally.

Develop detailed designs or specifications; manage preparation of drawings and tender documentation to produce high‑standard engineering deliverables.

Facilitate and assist with the tender and adjudication process leading to contractor appointment and site hand‑over.

Provide assistance and advice during procurement, construction and commissioning activities.

Plan, coordinate and manage the design, procurement and construction of assigned projects.

Conduct contract administration and testing, commissioning and inspections of installations.

Develop initiatives to improve cost‑effectiveness and efficiency of project execution.

Participate in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports, and follow required checking procedures.

Present design solutions to clients for approval.

Responsible for routine administration tasks as required.

Participate in continuous professional development training to maintain professional registration.

Mentor, coach, train and provide technical leadership to others who are registered as candidate engineers/technologists.

Maintain good working relations with all stakeholders, both internal and external to the company.

Proactively liaise with clients to ensure the company meets requirements.

Effectively manage project teams to control risks and achieve targets on time and within budget.

Assist with compilation and review of discipline‑specific technical standards, templates and technologies.

Qualifications

Eng/Tech degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.

Professional registration is preferred or eligible for Professional registration (Pr. Eng / Pr Tech) with ECSA within one year of appointment.
