Retail Property Executive - Durban

We are seeking a commercially strong Property Executive to join a leading retailer. This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future footprint, with direct impact on national expansion, market penetration and long-term commercial success. The Property Executive will lead the function, managing a team of Property Managers.

National site sourcing

Commercial negotiation and deal structuring

Feasibility and financial evaluation

Property strategy and portfolio growth

Stakeholder and industry engagement

Leadership and team management

Key Skills and Experience

Proven experience in retail property acquisition or development within large‑format food retail environments

Demonstrated experience sourcing sites nationally, including travel to and exposure within rural and outlying areas

Strong understanding of South Africa’s geographic, demographic and retail landscape

Solid experience in lease negotiations, deal structuring and landlord engagement

Strong financial acumen, including feasibility analysis, yield calculations and ROI modelling

Working knowledge of legal aspects of lease agreements and property contracts

Established network within developers, landlords, brokers and property funds

A relevant degree (Property, Commerce or related field) is essential

Exposure to construction or development processes would be advantageous

Proven people management and leadership experience
