Aminjarrinja Enterprises Aboriginal Corporation is seeking committed couples to join our North Queensland Boarding House Program as House Parents, providing a safe, nurturing, home-style boarding environment for children from the Groote Archipelago who are studying away from home. This is a rare opportunity to make a genuine, long-term difference—supporting children's education, wellbeing, and cultural identity, and contributing to positive generational change for Anindilyakwa children, families, and communities. The Opportunity We are currently recruiting for: Full-Time, Live-In House Parent Couples Relief / Respite House Parents (short-term and backfill roles) Full-time roles are live-in positions based in the Tablelands region of Far North Queensland, and include: All accommodation provided All household outgoings covered (utilities and housing costs) Structured respite and leave arrangements Strong organisational governance, support, and oversight House Parents are employed as a couple model, jointly responsible for creating and maintaining a stable, caring household for children living away from home. About the Role As a House Parent couple, you will: Provide a safe, stable, and nurturing home environment Support children's daily routines, health, wellbeing, and education Maintain a trauma-informed and culturally safe household Support children's connection to family, culture, and identity Model positive behaviour, boundaries, and life skills Liaise with schools, families, health services, and program staff Maintain a household that feels like a home, not an institution This is a senior, trusted role with a high level of autonomy and responsibility, operating within a child-safe, professionally governed boarding program. House Parents play a critical role in ensuring they are not just accommodated, but genuinely cared for, supported, and encouraged to thrive. This role offers the opportunity to: Contribute to improved educational and life outcomes Be part of meaningful intergenerational change Make a real, lasting difference through consistency, care, and leadership About You We are seeking couples who bring: Experience in childcare, youth work, education, residential care, community services, or parenting/mentoring roles High emotional intelligence, resilience, and sound judgement Strong professional boundaries and a calm, child-focused approach A genuine commitment to child safety and cultural respect Willingness to live on site and work within a 24/7 residential care environment Mandatory Requirements To be considered, both applicants must have: A current National Police Clearance (or the willingness and ability to obtain one) A current Working With Children Check (or the willingness and ability to obtain one prior to commencement) Capacity to meet mandatory reporting obligations Current (or willingness to obtain) First Aid certification Australian work rights are required for this position All appointments are subject to compliance with Aminjarrinja Enterprises' Child Safe Code of Conduct, policies, and legislative requirements.
