Accountant (Retail), East London

Overview:

Our client, which has business units in various industries, is seeking a detail-driven accountant to join their finance team. This role reports to the Group Finance Manager and plays a key role in delivering accurate financial information and ensuring robust accounting controls.

Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 12 / Matric equivalent
• BCom degree, accounting diploma, or equivalent qualification
• Minimum of three years' commercial accounting experience
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP and statutory reporting requirements
• Able to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review monthly management accounts, trial balances, and bank reconciliations
• Maintain accurate general ledger entries and daily data captures
• Develop cash flow forecasts and analyse revenue and expenditure trends
• Coordinate annual audits and ensure timely submission of statutory returns
• Produce and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses
• Monitor payroll processes, prepare wage summaries, and related reports
• Enforce compliance with GAAP, internal policies, and high standards of financial hygiene
• Provide ad hoc financial support and liaise with management and other departments
