Refrigeration Technician - East London Region

Alliance Foods is seeking a hands-on and skilled Refrigeration Technician (QSR) to join our team. This role is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing refrigeration and cooling systems used in fast-paced restaurant environments. The role ensures uninterrupted operation of equipment critical to food preservation and preparation, such as walk-in coolers, freezers, and ice machines, while complying with health and safety standards. The successful candidate will ensure that our facilities are well-maintained, and that all equipment operates efficiently.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Installation:
   • Install refrigeration systems and cooling units specific to QSR environments, such as walk-in freezers, cold storage units, and ice makers.
   • Connect systems to electrical, mechanical, and plumbing lines, ensuring compliance with South African building and safety codes.
2. Preventive Maintenance:
   • Conduct regular inspections and servicing of refrigeration units to prevent breakdowns and maintain optimal performance.
   • Ensure all equipment complies with food safety regulations (HACCP standards).
3. Repairs:
   • Diagnose and repair faults in refrigeration equipment to minimize downtime in restaurant operations.
   • Respond promptly to emergency repair requests to avoid service interruptions.
4. Compliance and Safety:
   • Handle refrigerants according to SANS 10147 standards and SAQCC Gas regulations.
