About the Opportunity A well-established national road freight and logistics company is seeking an experienced and results-driven
Branch Manager
to lead and manage its East London operations.
This is a senior operational leadership role suited to a candidate with strong road freight experience, proven people‑management capability, and a hands‑on approach to operational excellence, compliance, and client service.
Key Responsibilities Operational Management
Oversee day‑to‑day branch operations to ensure efficient, cost‑effective, and on‑time service delivery
Plan, coordinate, and optimise the use of vehicles, staff, and operational resources
Implement and enforce health, safety, and operational procedures to ensure compliance and minimise risk
Monitor branch performance and identify opportunities for operational improvements
Team Leadership&People Management
Lead, motivate, train, and develop a high‑performing branch team
Create a positive, accountable, and performance‑driven work culture
Conduct performance reviews and manage discipline, coaching, and development
Ensure effective communication and teamwork across all operational departments
Client&Stakeholder Management
Maintain strong relationships with existing clients and ensure high service levels
Resolve client queries, escalations, and operational issues effectively
Identify opportunities for operational improvement and business growth in collaboration with sales teams
Maintain excellent customer service standards and operational communication
Financial&Performance Management
Manage and control branch budgets and operational costs
Monitor branch performance against operational and financial targets
Work closely with finance to ensure accurate billing, reporting, and cost control
Identify cost‑saving opportunities and operational efficiencies
Compliance, Risk&Quality Assurance
Ensure compliance with company policies, transport regulations, and industry standards
Implement and monitor quality control and operational audit processes
Continuously assess and improve branch efficiency and service delivery
Ensure all branch activities align with health and safety requirements
Minimum Requirements
Grade 12 / Matric (non‑negotiable)
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Logistics, Transport, or related field (advantageous)
Minimum 5 years’ experience in road freight/logistics, with proven management and leadership experience
Strong operational, people‑management, and decision‑making skills
Solid understanding of transport legislation, fleet operations, and logistics best practices
Excellent communication, planning, and problem‑solving abilities
Proficient in
Microsoft Office
Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced operational environment
