JOB BRIEF:

Leading water technology and process company seeks dynamic, qualified self-starter with strong skills to Prepare designs for all water treatment plants and technology, prepare associated documents for completion of tenders and contracts for project services.

REQUIREMENTS : The ideal applicant is expected to have the following:

• Grade 12
• Draughting Qualification (MDDOP)
• BTech/ National Diploma Mechanical Engineering 
• Minimum of 5 - 7 years 3D Modelling and piping experience on Invetor or equivelent
• Autodesk Vault and Content Centre (Inventor, Plant 3D) Knowledge would be advantageous
• Knowledge of P& ID's
• CAD, MS Word, Excel, Google suite
• Manufacturing Principals knowledge
• Design and water treatment plants would and advantage
• Attention to detail
• Teamwork skills
• Strong problem solving skills

CRITICAL OUTCOMES The ideal applicant should be able to display the following outcomes

• Perform all duties to the latest ISO 9001requirements
• Ensure drawings are issued in accordance with relevant specifications, standards or procedures.
• Control drawing office project documentation.
• Ensure new/junior/trainee members of the design team output work of a high quality and in accordance with Project Services procedures and expectations.
• Communicate with the projects and production team effective to ensure alignment of the client requirements with the final product as well as effective flow of information.
• Request design review meetings where required to limit 3D designrework

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsibility for 3D modelling and engineering/manufacturing drawing generation of the Project Services Engineered and standard product range.
• Ensure designsconform to a common design philosophy(Internal Standards)
• Becomea design specialist in one or more types of water treatment plantsi.e.Waste water, Pharmaceutical, Desalination,etc.
• Provide assistance and guidance to other mechanical designers on projects which fall within your area of expertise and specialisation
• Mentor and train new and junior members of the design team
• 3D modellingof custom engineered productsincluding (but not limited to): P&ID, GA, Layouts and Manufacturing Drawingsaccording to drawing office standards and project specific requirements
• Generation and management of project equipment / line/ valveschedules as required
• Ensure the complete design meets clients/ internal designspecifications
• Generating complete design data pack for the manufacturing and assembly of a plan
• Selection of mechanical equipment as well as the sourcing of equipment (pumps, valves)where specialist/none standard items are needed
• Responsible for creation and maintenance of all parts and project Bill of Materials
• Follow divisional configuration management requirements by maintainingproject drawing registers
• Ensure all general sound engineering practisesis applied to design of water treatment plant equipment including equipment mounting and support as well as piping, instruments and vales, etc
• Create detailed production drawings
• Create detailed site work drawings
• Generation of all drawings / instructions for the correct and safe assembly and installation of a plant / skid.
• Provide assistance to Project Manager’sstaff to verify that mechanical construction by Veolia Services Southern Africaworkshop, or outside sub contractors comply with detail design specifications and verify that correct as-built drawings are issued.
• To ensure that all work carried out is in accordance with all procedures and standards.
• Carry out site surveyst)Carry out quality control inspections on fabrication activities in the Project Services manufacturing facilityand suppliers–takingfull ownership of the fabrication of your own designs from start to finish.
• Perform any other appropriate task requested by your line managerv)Generate and maintain any documents pertaining to the role as required by the relevant process / procedure

Safety

• Apply the Safety procedures for operations bound to their activity
• Ensure all designs allow for safe handling during manufacturing of skids, equipment and allow for ease of assembly and accessibility
• Make sure all designs are intrinsically safe for operators.

Quality

Apply the Quality procedures for operations bound to their activity.

Ensure all designs allow for a high quality of final products through sound engineering practise, allowing for welding access, cleaning, and effective cleaning and coating of surfaces.
