Description

FMCG company seeking a dynamic and results-driven Depot Manager to oversee all operations at the Empangeni depot. The successful candidate will manage sales, despatch, logistics, and depot staff, ensuring smooth daily operations, optimal customer service, and profitable growth. Candidates with entrepreneurial experience who can drive sales and operational efficiencies will be preferred.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Depot Operations Management:

• Oversee daily operations, including despatch, logistics, inventory, and general depot management.

• Ensure timely and accurate delivery of dairy products to customers.

• Maintain high standards of operational efficiency and workplace safety.

Sales & Customer Relations:

• Drive sales growth by developing strategies to increase customer base and revenue.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and distributors.

• Monitor sales performance and implement initiatives to achieve targets.

Team Leadership & Staff Management:

• Lead, motivate, and develop depot staff, including drivers, warehouse personnel, and sales representatives.

• Allocate resources effectively to meet operational and sales objectives.

• Conduct performance evaluations and promote a culture of accountability and excellence.

Logistics & Despatch Oversight:

• Coordinate delivery schedules and fleet operations.

• Monitor logistics and despatch KPIs to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

• Implement systems to minimize errors, delays, and wastage.

Entrepreneurial & Strategic Input:

• Identify growth opportunities within the region and recommend innovative solutions.

• Suggest process improvements and new business initiatives to enhance depot performance.

• Support management in strategic planning for the depot and regional operations.

Financial & Reporting Duties:

• Monitor depot budgets, costs, and profitability.

• Prepare regular reports on sales, operational performance, and customer feedback.

• Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant South African regulations.

REQUIREMENTS

1. Grade 12 (Matric) required; tertiary qualification in Business, Supply Chain, or related field is advantageous.

2. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in sales, logistics, or depot management; entrepreneurial experience highly preferred.

3. Strong understanding of despatch and logistics operations.

4. Proven ability to lead and develop a team.

5. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

6. Strong problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills.

7. Proficiency in MS Office; experience with logistics or inventory software is advantageous.

RUMUNERATION
