Accountant, George

Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant to join their finance team based in George, Western Cape. This is a hands-on role suited to a qualified CA (SA) who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in accurate, timely financial reporting.

About the role

You will be responsible for the accurate recording, reporting, and management of financial information, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and providing management with reliable data to support informed decision-making.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements in accordance with IFRS
• Manage accounts receivable, ensuring timely and accurate collections
• Reconcile General Ledger control accounts
• Assist with budget preparation and financial forecasting, including variance analysis
• Maintain the general ledger with accurate, timely transaction recording
• Conduct analytical reviews of inventory, including provisions for obsolete stock, NRV, and relevant sales costs, and perform monthly stock reconciliations
• Support internal and external audit processes
• Monitor and report on company expenses, identifying cost-saving opportunities
• Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements
• Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as required by management

Minimum requirements

• CA (SA) — essential
• Proven experience in an accounting or similar role advantageous
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel
• Experience with QlikView and/or Syspro advantageous
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and GAAP
• Own vehicle and valid driver's licence
