Field Service Mechanic, Johannesburg

Requirements

• Matriculation Certificate or N3
• Valid Driver's licence
• Formal SAQA accredited qualification as a diesel mechanic
• 5 – 10 years' experience as a mechanic
• Proven track record in fault finding and repairs on mobile cranes and trucks

Main Purpose of Job

• Attend to the mechanical and hydraulic maintenance and repair of company vehicles

Responsibilities:

• Undertake vehicle inspections and checks
• Diagnose and fault finding as per the job card instructions
• Identify parts to be replaced and/or repaired
• Submit parts and consumables requisition to supervisor
• Fix and fit parts and consumables as required
• Ensure that work quality is consistent with prescribed standards
• Ensure all machines, equipment and/or gear is in a safe working conditions on commencement of any repairs, and left in a safe working condition on completion of repairs
• Isolate the unit before leaving site
• Report any incomplete repairs on units unfit for use to the supervisor as well as to the person in charge on site
• Conform with the departments job card procedure i.e. labour, kilometres, travelling, buy-outs, stores issues or sundries processing
• Operators logbooks to be signed each time a mechanic visits the machines
